Pan Asia Gemstones Mining
Limited (the Company) is a vehicle that was created to acquire and consolidate
all the
mining concessions located within the Tashkurgan Municipality Davdar Village New
Emerald Mining Area, some 60km from the town of Tashkurgan , in the XinJiang
Uygur Autonomous Province.
In 2000 emeralds were discovered at
this location . In 2005 Tommy Wu visited the site, and in a later visit,
accompanied by the well known geologist Larry Snee, it was confirmed that high
quality emeralds were being extracted using mainly artisanal mining methods. Dr
Snee observed that this exciting new emerald find in Western China has
reasonable potential. Unfortunately, he observed that the artisanal mining
methods employed at present are largely destructive and, together with the
indiscriminate use of machinery and dynamite, poses a threat to what appears to
be only the second major emerald discovery for 40 years.
In November, 2007 one of the six
extant mining concessions was granted to Pan Asia Gemstone Mining Limited. In
the same period the Tashkurgan Municipal Government signed an MOU giving the
company the go-ahead to consolidate all the mining concessions.
Permission was also granted for the company to proceed through a joint venture
or through acquiring the properties for consolidation. A subsidiary company has been registered in China to handle the
joint venture and property acquisitions during consolidation.
Once the concession
licences come through Pan Asia will begin the consolidation process.
The Company will undertake an
feasibility programme on the properties, to commence in early Summer 2008. The
programme will evaluate the economic potential of the properties, and if the
results are positive, continue to the production of a bankable feasibility
study.
The Company has developed a
mine-to-market business model. By gaining control of this new emerald discovery,
the Company expects to be able to deliver traceable, untreated, natural
emeralds, which fetch premium prices, and will give the Company a unique
position in the market.
To facilitate raising
funding for a feasibility programme, Pan Asia will be seeking a placement from
private investors and may eventually seek a listing on the TSX Venture Exchange.
Pan Asia Gemstones Mining Limited
wishes to raise US$2.5 million to finance the proposed
feasibility study costs of the project.
